Friday, August 3rd, please join us and be part of the cheering crowd in the parking lot at or on the side of the road in Lexington Park. Bring your own signs and/or flags or we’ll have a supply of flags to distribute.
Motorcade forms in parking lot at 46580 Expedition Drive, Lexington Park, MD at 5:00 p.m. and will roll out at 5:30 p.m.
Please join us for USO Night at the gazebo at the Solomon riverwalk pavilion at 6 p.m. for music, a wreath laying ceremony, and taps at dusk.

The first Friday in August, August 7, 1942, those who trained on the WWII
Top Secret Amphibious Base at Solomon's Island, Maryland, invaded the first
beach in the Pacific, ironically a Solomon's island named Guadalcanal in the
Solomon Sea. When the savagery of war ended in 1945, on Guadalcanal alone,
losses were calculated at 550 lives and 2,500 wounded marina for every square
mile; Japanese losses were worse. Because of their strict code of honor, only a
handful of Japanese survived. Normandy in Europe was invaded June 6, 1944.
